How will the future sound? Can we shape an unseen wave?
y2k Obsession launch their cassette tape series with a divergent split effort in dancefloor explorations by label heads Louis//Louis and Logo.
On the A side, Louis//Louis first embarks on a free falling ride through grids of sequenced 909 rhythms, rubbery bass lines and neon glowing synths on "Symmetry". Then he brings us to wind down and flirt with models while high on arpeggio lines on the lounge vibed "Waves".
On the flipside, Logo's protocol abandoning constructions wander into more abstract territory. On "Mercedez", dirty - off kilter drums try to keep up with washed pads and boiling acid bass lines that hint of an after party starting to go off somewhere deep in a pre-millennial city, while "?uestion"s unintelligible voice samples, moody but infectious grooves and unconventional house feels leave us closing out the night feeling weirded out but wanting more.
